ACE Inventor Inc. was incorporated on 10 November 2022, formally beginning its work in next-generation photovoltaics. The company traces its origins to ACE Laboratory, established in March 2017 at the College of Engineering, Sookmyung Women's University. Five years of materials and process research in that lab preceded the launch of the company.

Founder and CEO Young Soo Joung holds a master's degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Seoul National University and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from MIT (2014). He is currently a professor in the School of Mechanical Systems Engineering at Sookmyung Women's University. The electrophoretic nanoparticle coating and functional hydrogel electrolyte technologies developed during his doctoral work form the technical foundation of the company.

From the outset, ACE Inventor positioned building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) as its core business. The company was built around a specific observation: the main barrier to solar adoption is not conversion efficiency but where a module can physically be installed. That led to a clear direction — solar cells that are light, flexible and able to adapt to the built environment.
