On May 31, 2022 the founding team of ACE Inventor was selected for the Pre-Startup Package Programme, a government scheme that provides commercialization funding, entrepreneurship training and mentoring to prospective founders before incorporation.

The selection marked the start of preparations to turn materials and coating technologies developed in a university laboratory into solar products. That preparation led to the incorporation of the company in November of the same year.

The company's technology began at ACE Laboratory, opened in March 2017 at the College of Engineering, Sookmyung Women's University. The laboratory had accumulated expertise in electrophoretic precision coating of nanoparticles and in water-based hydrogel electrolyte membranes — the two technologies that would later form the company's core stack.

The founding team defined the problem clearly: the bottleneck in solar adoption is not conversion efficiency but available installation area. Conventional silicon modules, at 15–25 kg/m² and built as flat, rigid panels, are difficult to apply to ageing buildings and curved structures, pushing demand out to mountain and farmland sites.
