ACE Inventor Unveils FRP Lightweight Solar Products for Heating and Vehicle Applications
The ultra-lightweight module range ACE Inventor unveiled at the International Green Energy Expo was reported in the press in June 2026, presented as a case of a university faculty venture — founded by Professor Young Soo Joung of Sookmyung Women's University — carrying laboratory technology into the market.
At the centre of the range is the FRP-based ultra-lightweight module: a 535-watt panel combining a 1.6-millimetre FRP front sheet with a backsheet and TOPCon cells, weighing 14.5 kilograms, around 70 per cent less than a comparable glass module. A 495-watt balcony module sits alongside it. Both are produced at Hwaseong, with KS C 8561 certification for general lightweight modules targeted for 2026.
The FRP heating module applies electrode patterning to balance generation efficiency against heating performance. Thinner and lighter than a conventional glass panel, it can be applied to ageing buildings, factory roofs and warehouses without large-scale structural reinforcement.
An agrivoltaic product has also been completed: a vertical module with an ETFE front and 1.6-millimetre glass rear, passing 25 per cent of incident light at 30 per cent less weight than conventional construction. Fabrication succeeded in May 2026 and TUV assessment has begun.
Sookmyung Women's University provided tailored business acceleration to carry research results through to commercialization, on the strength of which the company has been selected for government programmes including DeepTech-TIPS and DIPS 1000+.
ACE Inventor Inc., founded in November 2022, develops ultra-lightweight building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) modules.
