ACE Inventor Founded to Commercialize Solar Technology
ACE Inventor Inc. was incorporated on 10 November 2022 by Young Soo Joung, a professor in the School of Mechanical Systems Engineering at Sookmyung Women's University, as a faculty venture intended to carry laboratory materials research into manufactured products.
Joung holds a master's degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Seoul National University and a doctorate in mechanical engineering from MIT. After a postdoctoral post at MIT and a research position at the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, he built the company on the electrophoretic coating and functional hydrogel work of his doctoral years.
The business was narrowed to building-integrated photovoltaics from the start. Conventional solar had settled on roofs; walls, windows, railings and curved structures remained largely untouched.
Funding and technical validation advanced together. Korea Value Investment led a first institutional round in June 2023, and selection for DeepTech-TIPS that November secured three years of research funding.
Four years on, the original direction holds. KS C 8577 certification in March 2026 moved the company past technology validation and into the position of a certified supplier.
ACE Inventor Inc., founded in November 2022, develops ultra-lightweight building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) modules. Its core technologies are a water-based hydrogel electrolyte membrane, electrophoretic large-area flexible electrode coating, and ultra-lightweight curved module design using FRP and ETFE composites. The company operates a 50 MW annual production line in Paltan-myeon, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, and holds KS C 8577 BIPV module certification together with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001. Its patent portfolio includes seven registered Korean patents and one registered US patent, with 23 applications filed in Korea and abroad. Contact info@aceivt.com · www.aceivt.com
