Cross-Campus Startup Site Established at Sookmyung Women's University
ACE Inventor opened a startup site at the Sookmyung cross-campus on 1 March 2024, dedicated to module design and product planning.
There was a reason to separate design out. The company was developing a glass-based G2G structure and an FRP composite structure at the same time, and with the product lines diverging, materials work and design no longer sat comfortably in one place.
Module design has to answer to generation performance and building requirements at once. Cell layout, interconnection, laminate structure, frame and fixing method are settled together, and with identical cells a different design yields a different weight and a different range of application.
The asymmetric laminate settled there — a front that prioritises light transmission and flexibility, a rear carrying a higher fibre content for stiffness — remains the basic design of today's ACE-LITE and ACE-HLITE families.
ACE Inventor Inc., founded in November 2022, develops ultra-lightweight building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) modules. Its core technologies are a water-based hydrogel electrolyte membrane, electrophoretic large-area flexible electrode coating, and ultra-lightweight curved module design using FRP and ETFE composites. The company operates a 50 MW annual production line in Paltan-myeon, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, and holds KS C 8577 BIPV module certification together with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001.
